Warco thanks supporters of the Mission Mile

 Winston-Salem Rescue Mission Mile Race

The Winston-Salem Rescue Mission hosted the 2010 WSRM Mission Mile Race, benefitting the Back-to-School Backpack Program, on Saturday, July 31. A portion of the proceeds from the race helped to underwrite the new WSRM Back-to-School Backpack Program, providing fully stocked backpacks for area students facing difficult economic times.

"The Winston-Salem Rescue Mission provides essential services for individuals in challenging circumstances," said Justin Ward, president of Warco Enterprises Inc.  "We were pleased to be a sponsor of the Mission Mile, and appreciate everyone who came out to support this worthwhile cause."

The Backpack Program distributed over 100 fully stocked backpacks to area elementary school students. An additional 100 backpacks will be given to local homeless students prior to the start of school in coordination with the WS/FC School System and Project Hope.

"On behalf of the Winston-Salem Rescue Mission and the thousands we serve, thank you so much for your support of the 2010 WSRM Mission Mile Race and for helping us to make this upcoming school year a little brighter for many kids," said Mike Foster, Development Director of Winston-Salem Rescue Mission.
